 Patrick Jillett    BMus. GDip Ed.

Patrick Jillett is a Sydney based contemporary music composer and landscape photographer. His interest in the creative arts began at an early age, nurtured by an extended family with musical talents. Patrick was raised and educated in the New England region of the New South Wales, which has been a wealth of inspiration both artistic and musically. His creative process began early on with an enrolment into a TAFE fine arts course as an extra-curricula activity. Which drew him to major in Visual Art for his High School Certificate, and go on to study music at university.

 

During his time at the University of New England, Armidale. Patrick completed a Bachelor of Music (with an extended major in Ethnomusicology), Post Graduate Diploma of Education and an offer to undertake an honours degree in composition.  His compositions were performed to high acclaim in the Armidale region.

 

Patrick taught High school music for the next fifteen years and travelled internationally, using this time to research cultural music styles focusing on Middle Eastern, Asian and Oceania. In 2009 He had to retire from teaching due to medical reasons, which provided the time to focus on composition and photography projects in detail.

 

Across all of Patricks’ creative works he illuminates qualities that often go unnoticed by the casual observe in the beauty of natures landscapes.
